ICBR is a fee for service science center focused on enabling scientific discovery and innovation with good customer service and access to world-class biotechnology expertise and instrumentation.
Job Duties:
– Develop, test, and validate new methodologies using mass spectrometry for microbial metabolomics
– Establish a comprehensive target spectral library. The process involves ordering the compounds and optimizing them through mass spectrometry techniques.
– Prepare written SOPs documenting new methodologies; prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
– Other duties as required.
The Monoclonal Antibody core in the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR) is hiring a Core Research Facility Technician III. ICBR is a fee for service science center focused on enabling scientific discovery and innovation with good customer service and access to world-class biotechnology expertise and instrumentation.
Job Duties:
– Rodent handling and non-surgical procedures for the purpose of generating unique antibody-producing hybridoma cell lines. Occasional after hours, weekend, and holiday post procedure monitoring required.
– Develop and perform biochemical assays (e.g., ELISA and western blot). Analyze experimental data. Keep legible, accurate and complete records.
– Serve as a contact for REES equipment alarms after hours, weekends, and holidays, including troubleshooting equipment malfunctions during nonbusiness hours. Perform the following routine lab maintenance: maintain cryogenic freezers, move compressed gas tanks liquid nitrogen (300 lbs.) and carbon dioxide (145 lbs.), autoclave, wash labware, prepare lab solutions, decontaminate incubators.
– Perform affinity chromatography for monoclonal/polyclonal antibody purification. Develop and optimize purification methods. Analyze quality, quantity, and activity of purified antibody. Aliquot sterile culture media and chemical reagents. The understanding/practice of aseptic technique and record keeping is essential. Culture and maintain hybridoma and recombinant antibody cell lines.
– Plan, organize and carry out assigned lab and administrative tasks. Present data and generate electronic notes during lab meetings. Manage projects and communicate frequently with each client. Enter service requests using the CrossLab (iLab) system. Perform intake functions such as receiving and logging samples or requests for services. Ensure that timely progress is made on all assigned projects.
– Maintain information on each new hybridoma cell line and storage locations using an electronic inventory system. Periodically purge un-cloned hybridoma cell lines from cryo-storage.
– Other duties assigned such as maintain chemical inventory and manage chemical waste pickup. Complete monthly hazardous waste checklist. Acting instructor of Mammalian Cell Culture Workshop
