Bio

I am the Scientific Director for Gene Expression (GE) at the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR) of the University of Florida. I was trained as a molecular biologist and my major focuses were centered around cell polarity in C. elegans and cell death in Drosophila, in previous researches. Both of these works were published in the Development Cell. My experience as a Scientific Director at ICBR for over 15 years has taught me how to operate and manage the core to efficiently deliver best-in-class gene expression and genotyping to researchers both within and outside UF. In 2022, I received the Superior Achievement Award at UF Division One due to my key contribution to the COVID-seq project with over 23,000 samples in a two-year period.

In my position as Scientific Director at ICBR GE, I also bring new technologies to the UF campus that contribute to scientific research projects. Additionally, I provide consultations with proficient understanding and intimate knowledge regarding gene expression & genotyping to researchers.

Skills and Specialization

My skill sets include, but are not limited to: 1) 10x Visium Spatial analysis; 2) single cell transcriptome analysis using different platform such as 10x, parse, and PIPseq; 3) high-, middle- and low through-put gene expression with RNAseq, microarray, exome capture, and digital PCR and qPCR services; 4) genotyping with GeneTitan Instrument; 5) automated and miniaturized NextGen library construction; 6) cell line authentication and STR analysis and Antibody cDNA sequencing; and 7) Consultation for services offer at GE.
